| Nsubuga and Mugisha being led to prison |
THE two terrorists convicted for bombing Kampala in the July 11, 2010 twin bombings have been sentenced to 25 years and 5 years in jail respectively by the High Court in Kampala.
Edris Nsubuga was early Friday sentenced to 25 years each for the three counts of terrorism, while Muhamoud Mugisha was sentence to five years in prison for being a conspirator.
However, trial judge Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, ordered that Nsubuga will serve the 25 years for each count concurrently.
A total of 76 people perished in the two incidents that occurred at Kyaddondo Rugby Club and the Ethiopian Village Restaurant in Kampala. The third bomb that had been planted at the Makindye House on the same day was defused before it exploded.
However, at the first anniversary, the then deputy Inspector General of Police Julius Odwee, said over 100 people had subsequently perished.
Nsubuga and Mugisha who pleaded guilty to terrorism charges on Tuesday at the High Court, had been lined up by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to testify against the 12 other terror suspects.
The 12 other suspects are Hussein Hassan Agad, Idris Magondu, Isa Ahammed Luyima, Hassan Haruna Luyima, Abubakari Batematyo, Yahya Suleiman Mbuthia. Others are Habib Suleiman Njoroge, Omar Awadh Omar, Mohammad Hamid Sulaiman, Seleman Hijar Nyamandondo and Mohammad Ali Mohammad.
