THE Central Committee of CCM on Monday nominated Dr Dalaly Peter Kafumu, its candidate for the Parliamentary by-election for Igunga Constituency in Tabora Region.
Dr Kafumu is the Commissioner of Minerals and won in preferential voting in the constituency by 68 per cent, according to the CCM Ideology and Publicity Secretary, Mr Nape Nnauye.
He said the party's CC has also decided to use a helicopter during its campaigns in the constituency to catch up with limited time.
He said former president, Mr Benjamin Mkapa, is expected to kick off campaigns at a date to be announced later. The seat fell following resignation of Mr Rostam Aziz earlier this year.
