FOUR TRADERS OF COCAINE IN COURT


FOUR businessmen yesterday appeared before the Ilala District Magistrate's Court in Dar es Salaam, charged with being in unlawful possession of cocaine.

All the accused persons, Mohamed Dad (25), Ibrahim Ally (20) and Ramadhan Khatibu (20) pleaded "not guilty" before Resident Magistrate Wilberforce Luhwago.

The accused were remanded after failing to meet bail conditions.

Public Prosecutor, Ms Sakina Sinda, told the court that on August 12, along Mwita Street in Kariakoo in Dar es Salaam, the accused were allegedly found in unlawful possession of seven grammes of narcotic drugs known as cocaine.

Resident Magistrate Luhwago adjourned the case to September 1, when it comes for another mention.

Meanwhile, Said Mtenge (25) was also arraigned at the same court for being in unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Mtenge pleaded "not guilty" and was remanded after he failed to meet bail conditions.

State Attorney Credo Lugaju told the court that last Sunday, at around 2:00 pm at Gongo la Mboto area in Dar es Salaam, the accused was found in unlawful possession of 10 grammes of cocaine by Police Officer.

Mr Lugaju further told the court that the accused resisted arrest and attempted in vain to escape.

Resident Magistrate Ester Mwakalinga adjourned the case to September 6, for another mention.
