PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has directed the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) and Lindi Urban Water and Sewerage Authority (LUWASA) to ensure water is available in the area, as he had earlier promised.
He made the directive when inspecting water supply sources for wells and tanks at Kitunda suburb in Msinjali Ward in Lindi.
President Kikwete directed the two authorities to make sure that they fulfill promises by December, this year.
The president, however, noted that the water supply project had been implemented by 80 percent and that electricity has not so far been connected to the water source to make it operational.
